Helen Morris

 

Helen first became involved with the voluntary sector whilst studying at Swansea University where she acted as a volunteer at a social group for people with mental health problems and helped out at the local Gateway club. On leaving university she worked for a year with hearing impaired and autistic children in a residential school.

From 1996 to 2002 she was based in London working with Adults with Learning Disabilities. She started as a support worker in support in supported housing and then moved on to become assistant manager and a person centered planning facilitator.

In spring 2003 she returned to Cardiff and began working as a Trust officer for The Friendly Trust.

Julie Andriola

 

Julie joined the Friendly Trust as Administrator from Shelter Cymru, where she also worked as an Administrator for a Pilot Scheme for the Legal Services Commission for 2 years.  Previous to Shelter, Julie worked for approximately 17 years, as Panel Administrator, with Cardiff County Council’s Guardian ad Litem Service, before it was merged with the Probation Service to become CAFCASS, (Children & Families Court Advisory Service), based at the Cardiff Magistrates Court. 

 

Julie lives locally in Canton and is married with two children, aged 17 and 14 years respectively.

Sian Sullivan

Sian began working freelance for The Friendly Trust in March 2006 becoming a regular staff member in August 2006.  She  has substantial experience of working with people who have learning disabilities.  Her jobs over the years have included Local Groups Co–ordinator at Cardiff People First; Groups Facilitator with Vale People First; an Independent Advocate and Taking Part Worker with Advocacy Matters (Wales) in Cardiff; Support Worker at the former STEP Day Service and Support Worker with OHT in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
Sian has also being a volunteer with MENCAP Cymru and Age Concern.

Sian is originally from North Wales and is a Welsh speaker

Jeanette Thomas, Trust Visitor

Jeanette is our most recent arrival in her current role, working as a Trust Visitor - mainly in the Torfaen area.   Jeanette is well known and knows The Friendly Trust well from her days as a Trustee of The Friendly Trust  from 2002 to 2005, supporting the organisation to develop its potential.  Jeanette has many years experience in the care sector and in learning disabilities services.  She has also worked as a Development Officer with SCOVO (now known as Learning Disability Wales).  Jeanette is a Welsh speaker.

Claire Burke

Claire returned to the Friendly
Trust in June 2009 having worked as a Trust Officer for some months in 2008.

As a Social Worker, she has worked with children and adults in a variety of settings since 1978 but for the last 23 years has worked mainly with adults with a learning disability, first as a case worker, then as a manager in supported accommodation and in an advocacy organisation and later as  a development worker in participation. Most recently she has worked as a Project Worker in an Adult Placement service.

Whilst  at home with her children and not in paid employment, Claire has volunteered with a Tenants Group, sat on the Management Committees of two local charities and been the independent member of two Adult Placement Approval Panels.

Roberta Davies


Roberta spent 10 years in the Armed forces, travelling around the world with the Army Air Corps.  Working with Army helicopters and time spent as a Regimental Police are some of the jobs she encountered. Following her Army career she moved on to working with a Charity as a part of a project involved with outreach work.  The project supported vulnerable adults and worked with volunteers on a number of different projects throughout Cardiff.   Roberta now works for The Friendly Trust as a Trust officer.  

She enjoys keeping fit, socialising, most sports and loves the outdoors!


Roberta recently had a baby girl... Mum and babe are doing well.  We're waiting for more news - including babe's name!

Steve Wells

Steve started his career in the learning disabilities sector working in supported accommodation, supporting individuals to lead full and valued lives, and working in a variety of settings. In 2005 he started work as an independent advocate at Advocacy Matters Wales, whilst also doing some sessional work for Cardiff People First.
Stephen then worked as a person centred planner for school leavers in transition, helping young people think and plan about their futures, using accessible and inclusive tools. He worked as a teaching assistant in a special needs school before applying as Trust Officer at The Friendly Trust.

Chris Hutchins

 

Chris Hutchins joined The Friendly Trust, as a Trust Officer in July 2008.  He had been working as a Support Worker in a staffed house, which where he first heard about The Friendly Trust. The Friendly Trust  was  involved  with the  gentlemen he supported, acting as appointee for their benefits and monitoring their finances.

Louise Triggs
 
Louise is the newest addition to our team having joined The Friendly Trust mid April 2009.  Already she has proved enthusiastic and full of energy and ideas.  Previously she worked as a relief support worker in 2002, supporting people who had learning disabilities in various situations.  She heard about The Friendly Trust when we became involved with some of the people she supported.  Support work led to a full time post in a community based house supporting three gentlemen.  Louise acted as Key Worker for one of them and liaised with many professionals within this role for 6 years until she came to The Friendly Trust.  Louise had a break from work to have Oliver who is now 2. Louise has also volunteered at a city centre youth project, working on the advice desk.
